Covid 19 Update
Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions that are in place, The Changing Room is unable to deliver any of our face to face activities. We recognise this is frustrating and hope to be back as soon as possible. In the meantime we are continuing to deliver ‘Virtual Drop-in sessions’ over Zoom. If you are interested or feel you’d benefit by joining one of out calls, please contact email@example.com for the required details.
You can also visit SAMH’s Coronavirus Hub for information and advice regarding managing your mental health and wellbeing during these challenging times.
New 12 Week Courses
Our latest 12 week course at Tynecastle Park began on 24th September and will run until 9th December. Any new 12 week course will now be in 2020, but you are welcome to come along to drop in sessions until then. Sessions run on Wednesday evening’s in the home changing room under the Wheatfield Stand from 6pm.
This popular course is a great opportunity for men who want to look after themselves, improve their social connections and overall wellbeing to come into the football environment at Tynecastle Park and be part of a team that encourages better mental health. Football is central to all that goes on within The Changing Room with activities including a Stadium Tour, Walking Football, a motivational guest speaker, pitch-side walks and more. All sessions are designed to be enjoyable for participants to ensure the programme has a lasting, positive impact on the men who participate.
Sessions are open for men whose mental health is good, bad or indifferent. We all know that we need to look after our physical health, but we also need to look after our mental health.
If you would like to join but have concerns about taking the first step to join, you are not alone. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org find our more, arrange a chat about the supportive atmosphere or sign up.
Upcoming drop-in sessions
The Changing Room offers welcoming drop-in sessions every second Monday. This is an opportunity to meet fans and relax in the heart of Heart of Midlothian Football Club. You’ll be able to discuss the weekend’s football, guy stuff and mental health and wellbeing. These sessions are a great chance to unwind and take some time for yourself at the start of the week. You’ll meet with volunteers who have been a part of The Changing Room project and will be happy to talk Hearts, football or mental health with you. There’s no judgment at The Changing Room and the project promises to treat all guys who come along with respect.
Upcoming drop-in sessions: Monday's 21st October, 4th & 18th November and 16th December.
These sessions start at 6pm and usually last for 90 minutes. Entry to the stadium can be accessed from the large gate beside the turnstiles on Wheatfield Street. For more information on The Changing Room’s drop-in sessions, please contact email@example.com or 07817 810845.
The Changing Room’s ‘Team Talks’ are mental health awareness sessions that aim to tackle misconceptions and stigma, while kicking-off positive conversations about mental health and wellbeing. Team Talks provide an opportunity to learn about mental health and presents a challenge to the typical attitudes held within Scottish culture. These informative, thought-provoking sessions are open to all and if you are interested in finding out more or would like to book a Team Talk session for a group or organisation, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 07817 810845.
